AC/DC

Powerage
 |
They opened for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow who were touring their "Long Live Rock and Roll" Tour. Angus was young (yes pun) and incredible. Very tight performance. Bon Scott carried Angus through the crowd on his shoulders while Angus constantly ripped his long solo - ran all through orchestra and then even upstairs. |

Highway to Hell
|
This was actually just prior to the release of Highway to Hell, but that's the shirt they were selling, plus they played the song Highway to Hell from their then forthcoming album.
Bon Scott and Angus Young rocked a Madison Square Garden that was there for Ted Nugent - they won the crowd nicely though with a tight, hard rocking effort. Scott was a maniac drinking his Jack on stage and then he carried Angus on his back all through orchestra. |

Back in Black
|
Johnson's debut on a mega-successful breakthrough release. Headlining show at the Palladium. The NYC crowd, who loved and supported Bon Scott, were incredibly receptive to the new singer. Awesome show.

Udo and the boys were very tight. They opened for Kiss at Radio City Music Hall. |

Reckless

For a very commercial, pop oriented show, it rocked. I had fun. His lead guitarist was impressive. |

Disturbing the Peace
 |
Post-Malmsteen show at Lamour East in Queens. Graham Bonnet was exceptional. The guitarist played with a broken arm in a cast and was on the money. |

I'm No Angel

He opened for Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Pier in NYC. |

White Hot

The first time I saw Angel was at NYC's Palladium with The Godz and Judas Priest opening. Priest just released "Stained Class". To this day that show is still one of the best I have ever seen. Angel opened with their classic "The Tower."
The other two times they opened for Styx who were promoting "Pieces of Eight" in arenas. |

??? (2005) |
I saw them open for the Scorpions. They announced it was their first show in a couple years. They were okay but certainly not on the same level as the mighty Scorpions. The best songs of the night included the opener, "March of the Saint", "Last Train Home" and the finale "Mad House." The lead singer was very energetic but couldn't really wow the crowd; just the few hard core Armored Saint fans (about 1% of the crowd). The crowd overall applauded and cheered but remained in their seats. During the Scorps however, everyone stood start-to-finish and were extremely loud, rocking out. |

I only saw them because a local progressive rock band, Songs, that a friend of mine was friends with were the openers. The AVW was not really my cup of tea, but I was in the front row and the opening act, Songs, were pretty good. They were sponsored by german rockers NEKTAR. |
