fangoria with attila juhaszAttila Juhasz has written for magazines including Fangoria and Sci Fi Teen (click here for covers). He has written advertising copy used in television, print, Internet and email campaigns. He has written press releases and extensive marketing reports for major companies including The New York Botanical Garden and Unapix Entertainment Inc. He has also written several spec scripts circulating the film market.

Writing is the legacy of the Juhasz family. Hungary's novelist and screenwriter, Lajos Juhasz, Attila's grandfather, best known for his novel Ég Éro Fal (Skyward Wall) was murdered by Nazis for sheltering a Jewish family during World War II - a tragic loss to the Hungarian literary community.

His son, Attila's father, was picked up by the same publisher to write bi-weekly novelettes - pulp fiction. In order to save his wife and two sons though, Attila's father smuggled his family out of Hungary as the Russians invaded in 1956. This ended his writing career.

Groomed since he was born in New York, Attila has inherited the skills and drive to carry on the family literary legacy. He has been writing in multitudes of forms his entire life. In grade school he was on the school newspaper. In High School he majored in English and studied film. It wasn't until college though that he wrote his first spec screenplay. Taking several film and screenwriting courses and earning a BA in English Literature, Attila knew that screenwriting was a medium he was determined to master.

In 1992, Attila published his hard rock, heavy metal magazine New York Onslaught, with a circulation deal with the tri-state Tower Records outlets. Gannett newspapers featured a cover story (Leisure Section) on Attila and New York Onslaught for their Hudson Valley regions. Some interviews conducted and written by Attila included Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Michael Schenker (UFO, MSG), Ronnie James Dio (Dio, Black Sabbath) and Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath).

Attila established himself in the music community building friendships with people like Rob Halford (lead singer of Judas Priest). Mr. Halford asked Attila to write the band bio for his new group Fight in 1993 in preparation for their Epic Records pitch where they were signed. Attila, an early pioneer of the Internet, marketed the band Fight on the net in 1993 distributing news, press releases and tour dates in newsgroups.

In 1996, Attila launched several personal websites, including Screenwriter, which contained inspirational prose written by Attila to encourage his fellow writers. It was also utilized as a writing/film making networking mechanism establishing professional contacts and gaining public recognition. With foresight and passion, he also launched the popular HorrorMovies.com. There Attila conducted interviews and participated in press junkets with Brian Yuzna, Don Mancini, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Bacon, and Paul Verhoeven. Unapix Entertainment, Inc. purchased HorrorMovies.com from Attila in 1998 (click here for the Hollywood Reporter) which he ran through 2000. Attila is recognized by tens of thousands of horror fans, as a premiere authority on horror films and film in general, from his knowledgeable articles and insightful interviews.

Many genre fans also recognized Attila from his regular Cyberzone column in Sci-Fi Teen (Starlog Communications, Inc.) and his special feature on Horror and the Internet in Fangoria magazine. Attila was also a celebrity judge for TNT's Internet Movie Awards and was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly magazine for their Internet section.

Attila wrote, edited and directed a comedy short for DuPont / United Way used for an internal fundraising drive initiative.

He has written several (unproduced) full-length spec screenplays in the sci fi, horror, and thriller genres and is currently finishing a comedy screenplay to hit the spec script market.
