The Ad I Drew to Promote Nektar in Concert in Yonkers NY 1979

A few days ago I came across this flier I drew, printed and circulated in 1979 to promote Nektar live in concert in Yonkers, NY. I also drew the venue poster, but someone took off with that back then. I was 16 and this was my first experience working with a real rock and roll band (3rd time seeing Nektar live). I was paid in free tickets and backstage passes.

The following weekend I went to see Nektar at the Lone Star cafe, NYC, but they wouldn’t let me in because my friend and I were underaged. I wrote a note and asked them to the give it to Roye which they did. The note came back with a note from Roye to please let us in (I still have that note somewhere) but they wouldn’t. Then Taff Freeman, the keyboard player, came outside, put his arm around me and said, “they’re coming in and I take full responsibility. I am their guardian for the evening” In we went and I stood right in front of Roye the entire show. Another magical Nektar night.
